List of Foods that Trigger Migraines
Migraines are a very different type of headache. The pain intensity in migraine is higher and it is generally accompanied by various other symptoms. 1. Chocolate
This item might not be directing you to a migraine immediately, but it can be an impending cause of migraine. Therefore, it is one of the most triggering foods to be avoided, especially if you are suffering from migraine.
2. Citrus fruits
These fruits often cause irritation inside the bowel and increase headaches when the stomach is empty. Regular consumption of citrus fruits results in a gastric and acidic stomach. This would lead to unnecessary headaches and would not be beneficial for those who are already diagnosed with a migraine.
3. Alcohol
Alcohol is never considered an excellent beverage for health. It mainly causes issues like indigestion, acidic stomach, dry skin, heaving, dehydration, and unwanted headaches.
People are aware of hangovers that are experienced by drinkers after a few hours. If you suffer from migraine, you should always avoid such drinks, which could lead to significant headaches later. In fact, it could be fatal for migraine patients in the longer run.
4. Cheese and meat
The abundance of nitrates in aged meat items like salami can cause heavy migraine. Therefore, you should avoid these trigger foods for migraine if you want to lead a better life.
5. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Food items containing MSG are greatly rumoured to cause a 10-15 percent increase in the chances of getting a migraine. Studies have proven these results, and hence, doctors prescribe diets without MSG-containing foods most of the time.
6. Pickles & other fermented eatables
They are abundant in tyramine, which can further trigger migraine for patients or those who are sensitive to such food items. Major examples of these items can be pickles, Korean food, Jalapenos, and pickled okra.
7. Frozen food
Immediate pain has been reported by patients across the globe while they consumed frozen items like ice-creams or frozen meat and pizza. These items are too cold or too hot when they are heated to consume.
