The Different Types of Hair Removal Methods
A lot of people these days face the problem of unwanted hair growth. Many have experienced overgrowth of hair in certain parts of the body. Unwanted hair can be commonly found on the upper lip, chin, cheeks, back, legs, fingers, feet, and toes. It is important to remember that there are no such hair removal treatments/methods that can remove hair permanently. They only remove it for weeks, months, or for an extended period of time.
Depending upon the skin type, you can try any of the methods to get rid of the extra hair that can be annoying.
1. Shaving
Shaving is the oldest hair removal method to remove hair from the legs and arms with the use of epilators or razors that are mechanical devices to pull up the hair from the roots. It is an easy and inexpensive method of unwanted hair removal. You can also get rid of pubic hair by disposable razors that are hygienic and cost-effective too.
2. Plucking
Plucking unwanted hair is quite painful and is a good option for reshaping your eyebrows or removing a few strands of hair from your face, like on the upper or the lower lip. You cannot remove a large portion of hair, which may lead to scarring and other skin damage, and can permanently affect hair growth. The professionals in the salon use threads to pull the strands of unwanted facial hair.
3. Applying depilatory creams
A variety of hair removal creams are available in the market, but make sure to buy the correct cream for the correct part of your body. You cannot use pubic hair removal creams for facial hair extraction, as it may damage your skin with harsh chemicals. Before using any cream, test it on a small area to see whether your skin is accepting or showing allergic reactions. Besides, you should not keep the cream for long, which may burn the skin, leaving behind pigmentation marks. Creams with aloe vera gel and vitamin E will keep your skin smooth and silky.
4. Waxing
Waxing can be done either at home or by a professional. It’s messy and painful and can often lead to boils and scars after the treatment. You have to be careful while heating the wax, which should not be too hot or it will burn your skin. Many women use this hair removal method to remove hair from the bikini area. Nowadays wax strips are available to remove hair, which does not require heating the wax and messing the place.
Apart from the above treatments, electrolysis and laser treatments are permanent hair removal methods that burn and remove the hair permanently from the hair follicles, thus blocking and restricting further growth of hair. These treatments are very painful and expensive too. If neither treatments work for you, you can always visit the doctor for medications that will reduce the hair growth.
